Marmara'da 7 Şiddetinde Büyük Deprem Beklentisi

Prof. Dr. Naci Görür, 6 Şubat depremlerinin yıldönümünde Marmara Denizi'nde büyük bir depremin kesinlikle olacağını söyleyerek hemen tedbir alınması gerektiğini ifade etti.

CRITICAL WARNINGS AND POSSIBLE EARTHQUAKE

Geologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür issued important warnings on the anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes. All data indicates that a magnitude 7 or greater earthquake is approaching in the Marmara Sea, said Görür, emphasizing the need for urgent measures to prevent a major disaster.

THE NEAREST DANGER ZONES

Speaking to NTV, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür gave a clear answer to the question Where is the nearest danger?: The area where the Yedisu fault is located between Erzincan and Bingöl Karlıova... So Bingöl Karlıova, the region of Tunceli, and the eastern parts of Erzincan are among the areas we predict earthquakes. The last earthquake in this region occurred in the 1790s, said Görür, stating, This fault produces an earthquake every 250 years, and 250 years have passed. So we are approaching the 2030s. When this area produces an earthquake, Erzincan, Bingöl and Pülümür will be affected.

THE IMPACT OF PAST EARTHQUAKES

Görür highlighted the area between Bingöl Karlıova and Bingöl Göynük, where there was an earthquake in 1866-1860. He added that this area has not yet ruptured and mentioned, During the last major earthquakes, the Arabian plate moved northward with nearly 10 meters of displacement. The East Anatolian Fault ruptured. However, the Bitlis Zagros suture zone did not generate earthquakes. Adıyaman, Siirt, Diyarbakır, and Hakkari became compressed. The earthquake could have been brought forward. If we consider a place expecting an earthquake, we should not ignore this area.

HIGH EARTHQUAKE PROBABILITY

Görür stated, All data indicates that there will be a magnitude 7 or greater earthquake in the Marmara region, this is no joke. Evaluating the studies conducted by Parsons and his team, Görür said, Starting from 1999, the probability of a magnitude 7 or greater earthquake in the Marmara region was first stated as 64%, they revised it to 47% last year. This means the probability of an earthquake in this region within 30 years is 47%. This is a very high probability. This is serious. We must immediately prepare this region for an earthquake.
